GVNC’s 2026 Fundraiser for the Montana Backpack Project Starts September 1.
This year, GVNC is supporting the Montana Backpack Project, a volunteer-driven nonprofit helping local high school students experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
Each winter, students in Bozeman and Belgrade receive new backpacks filled with personal-care essentials, cold-weather gear, food, gift cards, and other necessities to help them through the long holiday break.
But a backpack can mean much more than what’s inside.
For a teenager facing an uncertain living situation, it offers dignity, support, and the reassurance that someone in their community sees them, cares about them, and believes in their future.
That is why the Montana Backpack Project is such a natural fit for GVNC and our mission:

We GIVE by helping fund backpacks and essential resources.
We SERVE by packing backpacks, writing notes of encouragement, and helping where needed.
We CONNECT by letting these young people know they are not alone.
Sometimes we all need a hand to help us rise.
