May 2026 Luncheon

May 2026 Luncheon

May 7 @ 11:30 am 1:00 pm

Join us for a behind‑the‑scenes look at how Montana became a magnet for filmmakers — from The Horse Whisperer and A River Runs Through It to Yellowstone and beyond.

Allison Whitmer, an MSU graduate and Montana’s Film Commissioner, has spent more than two decades helping turn Big Sky Country into Hollywood’s favorite backdrop. Rooted in the generational knowledge of her pioneer grandparents and a deep love of open spaces, she brings both professional expertise and authentic Montana spirit to her work. She is also a passionate advocate for historic preservation and youth education, especially in her home region on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

At our May luncheon, Allison will share stories from the set, insights into the business of filmmaking, and how the Montana Film Office supports communities across the state, including through the Big Sky Film Grant, bringing new creative projects and meaningful economic impact to Montana every year.

Come for the conversation, stay for the inspiration — and discover why Montana isn’t just beautiful, it’s film‑ready.
