Member volunteers are essential to Newcomers. They keep all aspects of the organization running, making it possible for members to participate in our many ongoing activities. And they help each other out. Betsy Roberts is a great example of that kind of GVNC volunteer. She recently stepped up to help the Canasta Interest Group when the group leader was dealing with family issues. Denise Boynton shares her thanks for Betsy here:
“Over the past four years, as a lead of the Canasta group, one of GVNC’s Interest Groups, there have been times when I was unable to lead the gatherings. Last year was a tough one because I was gone for 3 months during my father’s illness and passing. However, I never worried about the sustainability of our little group. Betsy Roberts took the reins, and she held on fast and furious. Our group continued meeting twice a month and everyone continued to enjoy playing Canasta with their friends. Betsy never turned down the opportunity to help the group or me. She has been a wonderful assistant. And, now that I am stepping down from leading the group, Betsy once gain has put herself forward to keep the group going. THANK YOU, Betsy!!”
