DESCRIPTION:March 2024 Mingle & Munch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCome with us on a private backstage tour of the 100-year-old\, historic Ellen Theater\, led by the Executive Director\, John Ludden! \n\n\n\nMembers:  Login for details and to RSVP. \n\n\n\nThe Ellen first opened her doors on December 1\, 1919\, and  hosted variety shows\, silent movies\, school plays\, town band performances and even an opera featuring a live elephant. Unfortunately\, The Ellen\, along with other similar theatres across the country\, suffered decades of disrepair. In 2005\, however\, Montana TheatreWorks\, a local non-profit theatre group\, established the goal of saving The Ellen and purchased the building and in April 2008 began the monstrous task of renovation.  The Ellen reopened her doors on December 4\, 2008 and presented a production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.  \n\n\n\nAmong those who have graced The Ellen stage include Lily Tomlin\, The Vienna Boys Choir\, New York’s The Acting Company\, Herb Alpert\, Ed Asner\, Rita Coolidge\, Arlo Guthrie\, Judy Collins\, and many more.

DESCRIPTION:March 2024 Mingle & Munch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nButte\, Montana\, was once one of the largest cities in the American Northwest. It attracted people from all around the world because of the mining being carried on there. \n\n\n\nWe will go on a guided tour 100 feet into the Orphan Girl Mine at 10:30 am to see the original shaft station. On this walking tour\, you will view one of the few exposed veins in North America that can be seen by the public.  We will also spend some time looking at the World Museum of Mining exhibits. \n\n\n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, we will have a guided tour of the spectacular frescoed interior of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church  [Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate].  Butte was home to a large population of Serbian immigrants who came from the area at the crossroads of Central and Southeastern Europe (formerly eastern Yugoslavia). \n\n\n\nGuests are welcome! \n\n\n\nMembers:  Login for more details and to register. \n\n\n\n\n\nLimited number of spots available

SUMMARY:EXCURSION:  Gates of the Mountains Boat Tour
DESCRIPTION:March 2024 Mingle & Munch\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor over 125 years guests have been following in the path of Lewis and Clark exploring the “Gates of the Mountains”. Located 20 miles north of Helena\, the 2-hour boat tour is operated by the Gates of the Mountains Inc\, whose goal is to protect\, educate\, and allow visitors to explore one of the last best places.  \n\n\n\nGreat towering walls of limestone still stand guard over the river. From the vessel you can see Mann Gulch\, the site of the raging forest fire that killed 13 smokejumpers\, August 5\, 1949. \n\n\n\nNear Mann Gulch the pilot will hug the shoreline to give you a look at Indian pictographs painted on the rock wall. The tour’s main attraction\, though\, is the inexhaustible scenery. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers:  Log in for more details and to register \n\n\n\nGuests of members are welcome.
